Call for a consultation
Her interest in orthopedics and traumatology began while she was a student and volunteering with the orthopedic team at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona. She is currently training in sports medicine at the Ouchy Orthopedic Center.
The portrait of the month of September is dedicated to Dr Marta Manero Ricart, an orthopedic surgeon graduated from the University of Barcelona, who joined the Ouchy Orthopedic Centre in December 2018, as an assistant chief physician in sports medicine training.
In association with Medicol
Dr. Marta Manero Ricart turned to orthopedics and traumatology after working as a physician for the Spanish Basketball Federation's youth talent identification program. She has a particular interest in the mechanics of the lower limbs (ankle, knee, hip).
After completing specialist training in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital General de l'Hospitalet de Barcelona in 2005 and with more than 10 years of experience in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, Dr. Marta Manero Ricart joined Medicol in 2018 to continue her development through training in sports medicine.
To this end, Dr Marta Manero Ricart can benefit from the experience of Dr Vincent Chollet and Dr Stéphane Borloz, sports doctors and members of Medicol.
At Medicol, Dr. Marta Manero Ricart consults daily at the Ouchy Orthopedic Center as an assistant clinical director. She works closely with her mentor, Dr. Jacques Vallotton, with whom she performs hip and knee replacement surgery at the Bois-Cerf Clinic.
As a postgraduate training site in sports medicine recognized by the SSMS since 2016, Medicol offers physician candidates the opportunity to complete their practical training. Dr. Marta Manero Ricart is the fifth physician to undertake this stage of interdisciplinary continuing education in sports medicine at Medicol.
Scientific activities
Dr. Marta Manero Ricart is particularly interested in the complexities of the knee and technological advancements in the personalization of knee and hip prostheses. In the future, she plans to pursue further training in lower limb surgery and contribute to scientific articles on this topic.
By joining Medicol, Dr. Manero Ricart has the opportunity to gain new experience, working in a new language within a multicultural and multidisciplinary team, which she greatly appreciates. Among her future plans, Dr. Marta Manero Ricart hopes to share her experience with young doctors in training at the Ouchy Orthopedic Center. She believes that multidisciplinary teamwork—exchanging information with other orthopedic surgeons, as well as rheumatologists, internists, physiotherapists, and others—is beneficial for comprehensive and effective patient treatment.
