For our July profile, we present Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato, a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, dedicated to treating spinal conditions. Since September 2018, he has been practicing at the Clinique Bois-Cerf in Lausanne and the Clinique de la Colline in Geneva. He joined Medicol that same year and currently consults at the Centre Orthopédique d'Ouchy. .

For Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato, having his practice within the Medicol-Hirslanden Orthopedic Center in Ouchy is a significant advantage, as it allows him to regularly discuss clinical cases with the center's physicians. Furthermore, this proximity to the Bois-Cerf Clinic facilitates collaboration between doctors of various specialties in orthopedics and sports medicine.

With a view to continuing professional development, Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato attends Medicol events as a speaker or participant. Most recently, he gave a presentation at the Lunch Meeting on March 28th to over 50 general practitioners from the Lausanne region on the treatment and surgery of sciatica.

Scientific activities

Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques for the spine. His method involves approaching the spine while preserving as much of the musculature as possible, thereby reducing pain and promoting better patient recovery. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of explaining to both the patient and their referring physician that surgery is not always the ultimate goal, and that more conservative treatments are always an option.

Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato participates in numerous medical events. In April, at a Hirslanden Group conference, he and Professor Nicolas Theumann presented to the general public the surgical techniques for the lumbar spine that significantly reduce complications and allow for faster patient recovery. More recently, he participated as a speaker at the General Internal Medicine Congress organized by the Forum for Medical Training in Lausanne. There, he presented the assessments and treatments to be implemented in cases of sciatica.

New products

After many years at CHUV as head of the spine team, Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato joined the Hirslanden Group in 2018 and set up his private practice next to the Bois-Cerf Clinic. .

Multidisciplinary patient care is central to Dr. Pietro Aniello Laudato's work. He strives to foster collaboration among various healthcare professionals involved in the musculoskeletal system to ensure optimal patient recovery after surgery. During his time at the CHUV (Lausanne University Hospital), Dr. Laudato played a key role in establishing a multidisciplinary spinal surgery unit in collaboration with neurosurgeons. Building on this experience, he has developed a comprehensive network of specialists in the treatment of spinal pathologies.

Today, he also collaborates with the Swiss Pain Institute in Lausanne and the pain management department at Morges Hospital, where he leads continuing education seminars for surgical residents. Similarly, he trains chiropractors in his private practice. His goal is to share his knowledge and stay abreast of the latest developments by collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines.
