Lower limb surgery
Introduction
Dr. Filippo-Franco Schiapparelli studied medicine in Italy and decided to move to Switzerland in 2015 to begin his specialization in orthopedics and traumatology.
From 2016 to 2019, he practiced at the Basel-Landschaft Cantonal Hospital, where he developed his expertise in knee and hip surgery. He also dedicated a year to research in reconstructive knee surgery.
He then continued his training in Ticino, working for three years at the Cantonal Hospitals of Lugano and Bellinzona, before being promoted to assistant clinical head at the end of 2022.
Seeking to further develop his skills, he joined the Fribourg Cantonal Hospital, where he practiced until the end of 2023, specializing in knee and hip surgery and traumatology. In 2023, Dr. Filippo-Franco Schiapparelli obtained the FMH (Swiss Medical Association) specialist title in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, followed in 2025 by interdisciplinary certification in traumatology.
Alongside his clinical work, he was heavily involved in research, with thirteen publications to his credit, several of which he authored. His work has been recognized with numerous awards.
Passionate about sports medicine, he has been contributing since 2023 to the medical care of the Fribourg-Gottéron ice hockey team and the BCF Elfic Fribourg basketball team, both on the field and in consultation.
In order to perfect his skills in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, Dr. Filippo-Franco Schiapparelli will join the Ouchy Orthopedic Centre in November 2025.
