He chairs the organizing committee of the Medicol 2019 Congress on the theme of shoulder surgery. Today, he devotes himself entirely to consultation, surgery, and especially to the advanced training of young doctors in shoulder surgery.
This November profile is dedicated to Dr. Steve Brenn. A member of Medicol since 2013, he specializes in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, focusing primarily on the shoulder joint. At the Medicol Congress on November 29, 2019, at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, he will be the surgeon in charge of the operation broadcast live from the Bois-Cerf Clinic.

Dr. Steve Brenn studied medicine at the University of Lausanne and graduated in 1999. He then specialized in orthopedic surgery and traumatology at the CHUV (Lausanne University Hospital). Joining the Hirslanden Group in 2012, he later moved to MedicoI, where he developed medical content and a support program for patients with shoulder joint problems.
Dr. Steve Brenn treats shoulder injuries, sports injuries, and age-related degenerative diseases. His surgical practice focuses entirely on shoulder treatment, performing over 250 arthroscopies and 40 shoulder replacements annually.
Shoulder surgery is a discipline that has developed significantly over the last 20 years. Since 2018, Dr. Steve Brenn has dedicated himself to passing on his expertise and ensuring the next generation of surgeons by offering a Shoulder Surgery Fellowship in partnership with Medicol. For two years, he trained Dr. Antonino Fugazzotto, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician.
From January 2020, Dr. Steve Brenn will train his new Fellow, Dr. Andrea Barbato, an orthopedic surgeon trained in Italy and France, for 12 months.

This year, Dr. Steve Brenn is chairing the organizing committee of the Medicol 2019 Congress, which will be held on November 29 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and will bring together more than 200 healthcare professionals. In addition to his role as organizer, he is the lead surgeon for a rotator cuff surgery, filmed live from the operating room at the Bois-Cerf Clinic and broadcast in the Congress hall and online.
The objective of this live surgery is to demonstrate this surgical technique to rehabilitation specialists and doctors in order to work better together in postoperative rehabilitation.
Recently, Dr. Steve Brenn, in close collaboration with Dr. Antonino Fugazzoto, drafted a scientific article addressing partial rotator cuff tears. Furthermore, other projects concerning the management of supraspinatus injuries are currently under development.
Dr. Steve Brenn has been the originator of numerous innovative projects in the development of simple, quick and easily reproducible techniques for surgeons to facilitate the learning of fellows in arthroscopic procedures.
Dr. Steve Brenn is a member of the FMH, SVM, ASMI; SFA (French-Speaking Arthroscopy Society) as well as SECEC (European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery).
New products
Dr. Steve Brenn's professional goal is to continue training new specialist physicians through his Fellowship program. He is therefore delighted to welcome Dr. Andrea Barbato.
In spring 2020, accompanied by his Fellow, Dr. Steve Brenn will lead a workshop on shoulder surgery in Lausanne. This training will take place in a trailer specially equipped by Arthrex, where surgeons can practice arthroscopies.
