By Dr. Patrick Vienne, specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, foot and ankle specialist
Through a series of videos, our medical instructors shed light on certain orthopedic conditions and their treatments. In this fourth installment, Dr. Patrick Vienne, a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, discusses hallux valgus.
Dr. Patrick Vienne received his medical degree in 1990 from the University of Bern. He completed his orthopedic surgery training partly in Fribourg, then at the Balgrist University Orthopedic Clinic in Zurich, where he obtained his doctorate in 1998. After a fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, he headed the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Balgrist Clinic in Zurich from 1999 to 2007. During this period, he focused primarily on the introduction of a new total ankle prosthesis in Europe and the development of a new surgical technique for the correction of hallux valgus, which was the subject of numerous scientific publications in specialized orthopedic surgery journals. After more than 15 years of experience in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Patrick Vienne joined the Medicol Group with the aim of creating a foot center of excellence within the Hirslanden Bois-Cerf Clinic.
