Evolution & innovation

This year, Medicol is dedicating its annual congress to the most frequently operated joint in orthopedics: the knee.

This complex joint is difficult to understand when pain is present because the knee is closely linked to the alignment of the lower limb and the postural balance related to the foot and hip. The diagnostic and therapeutic approach is therefore delicate, and we will try to gain a clearer understanding with our sports medicine physicians, surgeons, and various therapists. We will then review the menisci, covering injury mechanisms, surgical suturing techniques during live surgery, and the debatable indications for arthroscopy.

The afternoon will be devoted to prosthetic surgery. Philippe Cartier will recount for us the history of partial knee replacement and the advantages of this minimally invasive and functional surgery.

Faced with ever-increasing patient expectations, the industry has developed prostheses with different designs intended to be more effective. We wanted to compare the results obtained with the most commonly implanted total prostheses currently available. A roundtable discussion on this topic, featuring selected cases, will conclude the day.
