The Medicol 2025 congress challenges us to consider the medicine of tomorrow. By exploring communication applications, we will see how doctors and therapists can use new technologies for their patients. To better adapt to patients' expectations, it is also essential to better understand their functional abilities. The study of movement, and in particular gait analysis, is easier to perform today and paves the way for a new generation of functional assessments. This diagnostic step, within a more comprehensive framework, strengthens the doctor-patient relationship, allows for documented follow-up care, and empowers the patient in their treatment. These new horizons are made possible thanks in particular to tools developed at EPFL, and we are pleased to welcome this year the engineers who developed them. They will explain their functionality and future developments. The afternoon is dedicated to back problems, which will be examined from different perspectives: first, how to make the correct diagnosis and which examinations to perform; The role of the chiropractor, the importance of postural assessment, and the usefulness of a functional biomechanical approach will be explored. This is an invitation to revisit conservative treatment in order to offer innovative solutions. We will then examine the potential of multidisciplinary care in a center dedicated to pain management. Finally, we will look at the various interventional procedures available today and the assessments needed to optimize their results. A final roundtable discussion will clarify the indications for each of these techniques and allow us to better understand their complementarity.
